Self Isolation and Souvenirs

After self isolating for the past month or so, I’ve definitely been dreaming of traveling further than the kitchen. (Sigh.)

Never did I imagine that my world would get so small! It makes me want to plan a trip.

One of my earliest vacations was to the Black Hills with my parents, three siblings, and grandparents. We all piled into one car—my youngest sister and I happily squeezed into the very back with the luggage—and we were on our way to a grand adventure!

Of course we loved visiting all of the sites, but buying souvenirs was great fun too. A giant pencil from Mt. Rushmore, a note pad from Wall Drug, any cheap little trinket would do!

At the time I was too young to consider the souvenir plates that were readily available at every stop, however, I’ve since discovered them on Etsy. Even though they’re inexpensively made, they’re a colorful and unique reminder of the places that we’re longing to visit when life returns to normal.

Vintage souvenir plates are typically about 4″ across and can be attractively displayed in a wooden box like the one above, or used as a kitschy set of coasters that your company is sure to appreciate!

I hope that all of us can escape somewhere soon; especially to see our family and friends. Until then, stay safe!

Calling All Angels

This past holiday season I was searching for ornaments on Etsy when I unexpectedly ran across a ceramic artist from Belgium. (That’s what’s so great about Etsy, you find things you didn’t even know you were looking for . . . )

As I scrolled through the artist’s site, my eyes fell upon two angel figurines that I was so entranced with, I couldn’t get them out of my mind. I favorited them and revisited them numerous times over the next few days. Finally, I bought one for myself and one for a friend.

Little did I know at the time that we would both be in need of a guardian angel. And as it turns out, the angels that I chose that day ended up being perfect for us. I have been wanting to reignite my creativity for a while, and my multitalented friend has a wonderful idea for a book.

Find my angel here.

Whether you believe in angels or not, something told me that these little angels belonged to us; a tangible reminder that we are not alone as we navigate our new paths.

As the artist says on her site, angels:

Enfold you in their healing wings
Love you unconditionally
Support you in every way!

I can believe in that.

Current Moo’d

Why did I just “have to have” this little cow creamer? I don’t know! I just LIKE it. Even though I don’t own a lot of farmhouse decor, I love incorporating different styles to make my home unique.

I’ve actually seen a few different versions of this creamer on Etsy, mostly from outside the U.S., and too expensive to buy and have shipped. But I finally ran across this one, and although it has a few flaws, the price was right.

If you’re patient, you can usually find what you’re looking for without breaking the bank. I paid $8 with free shipping and I’m good with that!

Moo.
